My Interior Design Tip:

  • DON'T GET STUCK IN TRENDS

Yes, interior design trends are trending for a reason but this doesn't mean you have to follow them by the book. If there is no brief, then it gives you a free mind, so rethink what materials, colours and atmosphere that YOU want in the space, without thinking about what's the latest trend.

  • LOOK AROUND YOU

Where there's an inside, there's interior. So when you enter a space, look around you and analyse the way the interior has been created. I always look in restaurants, hotels and even shops, as I find it very interesting how things have been done.

  • PLANNING

When designing an interior space I always follow these 6 steps: Colour, Space, Lighting, Materials, Atmosphere and Function of the room. These steps will stop you from feeling overwhelmed when designing a space and will help you to purchase the correct items, one at a time. Another tip that would help with this is to make a concept board of all your favourites then you can see them clearer.

  • BUDGET

Interior design can become expensive, so before you pick up the latest lampshade worth your whole wage, research into if you can find anything similar, for a fraction of the price. Even if it's second hand or a cheaper material, you can normal find the same item somewhere on the market. However if something is over cheap then it properly is cheaply made, so if its something that has a function of some sort then look into reviews of the item and go from there!
