My Artist Tips:

  • BE MINDFUL BUT NOT AFRAID

When creating a piece of work, it is easy to get stuck in a bubble of 'rules' that you want to follow. But in reality there are no rule in art, so of course think about the colour and technique but don't be afraid to take the leap with things that may seem 'too much', because that leap could be what the painting really needed.

  • DON'T STICK TO ONE SUBJECT

Of course many artist find their niche and it works for them, but when starting up, sticking to one subject matter can feel boring and repetitive. So changing from one to another can feel refreshing and make you fall in love with art all over again. It also shows your audience how diverse you can be in your techniques however, be careful as it can make your brand look confusing.

  • NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE YOUR ART

It may seem hard to hear when someone doesn't give your art the compliment you were hoping for, but remember that everyone has different taste and what you may like someone else may not. Think of it as the fashion world, someone will wear one thing day in day out but another may not dream of wearing it. Exactly like the taste for art.

  • NETWORKING

Meeting new people is one of the main sources how artists make a sale. People will feel more connected to the art if they personally know who produced it. This can also help with receiving upcoming clients as your art may be a conversation starter and result in someone else's interest too.
